Bergama Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility

Project Location: Türkiye, İzmir Province, Bergama District, Kaşıkçı Neighborhood.

Methodology: ACM0022: Alternative waste treatment processes and ACM0001: Flaring or use of landfill gas

Description: The facility has a capacity of 9.898 MWe power production and generates 74,729 MWh annually. The landfill accepts waste from Bergama, Kınık, Aliağa and Dikili districts of Izmir province. There are over 100 villages within the boundaries of Bergama and agricultural waste is subject to bio-methanization inside the facility. Moreover, there is a waste separation system installed in the facility and plastic, metal and fertilized/organic products are separated and sold commercially. The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prevent methane emissions. The project is estimated to help reduce the carbon emissions average by 76,729 tons annually.

The Project is expected to contribute to the following SDGs: 3, 7, 8 & 13.
